"To Frank M., mourning
for my home state of Washington"
You say you hope there will be the Big One quake before the
people of Washington State pass the Gay Marriage law in
November.
You say they are sure to pass it because of propaganda in favor
of it.
Washington is where I was born and raised and lived the best
part of my life. I was a liberal Washingtonian like the
people you describe
who will pass this law. I learned the hard way what this
liberal agenda really means to the family and to society.
I had several really close
homosexual friends--five close ones, all men (I didn't
know what a lesbian was until attacked by one in my freshman
year at Stanford).
I knew one of these men from the time we were in
kindergarten--he grew up to be a well-known musician. I
knew another from the time I
was a pre-teen in ballet school--he grew up to found a
world-famous ballet company, along with his cousin, whom I also
knew very well.
Another was a man I met in college and dated, who had an
interest in Christianity as I did--he became a Catholic
priest. Another was an
Episcopal priest, a man admirable in many ways. There are
others but those are the ones who stand out in my life's
journey.
For them and the culture in which they grew up, I mourn. I
will have to say that no understanding is possible by ME, at
least, as to why
this tragedy happened. I know these people did not set out
to do evil. That is all I know. I pray for them,
whatever happens.
