Waiting

 

Thank God, we wait.  Really, we know we should and I’m sure most of us do.  Still, it’s not easy.  I am not sure why we might be able to find a day so compelling by our scriptural and spiritual understanding only to see it pass.  I have literally asked, “Why Lord?”  I still don’t really know.

 

On a partially humorous note, I am convinced we are all supposed to take a turn being wrong at least once.  He wants to remove any pride between us and Him.

 

Also partially humorous, since there is increasing evidence through our experience that we will not know His timing by reasoning, we should all quit trying.  If we could all agree to NOT pick a particular day maybe that would be it!  Still expecting, though.

 

Truly serious:

We are joined to the Holy Spirit, praise God!  We go together.  Another name for the Holy Spirit in scripture is “the restrainer”.  Who is being restrained?  Not us, we grow in Christ every day!  The evil one and his minions are restrained.  Evil, darkness, hopelessness, and condemnation are restrained.  They chafe and wait, consumed by their own character.  We are the foot of God on the neck of evil.  Thanks Lord, I guess another day would be fine…
