My mother and grandfather (her father), both now in Heaven, used to have dreams of flooding and they always said they were portents of bad things coming.  I too have had those kind of dreams, flooding of a river or a dam breaking or whatever, and I am usually on the side observing the event, not necessarily in danger myself.
Last night I had another of these dreams, of a creek flooding, one I was passing over or through, but I got out safely.  I always awaken with the distinct feeling of dread or sadness for those who will be involved with that kind of coming event.  I never have exact interpretations of these dreams, just that doom is coming.
