"being a good steward"

Greetings John and Doves,

This simplified explanation helps us to understand the Big Numbers (Trillions,) and help us to put our national debt into human perspective.

The Big Numbers:

* U.S. Tax revenue: $2,170,000,000,000
* Fed budget: $3,820,000,000,000
* New debt: $ 1,650,000,000,000
* National debt: $14,271,000,000,000
* Recent budget cuts: $38,500,000,000

Simplified explanation. Remove the last 8 zeros and pretend it's a household budget:

* What the family earned last year: $21,700
* What the family spent last year: $38,200
* New debt on the family credit card: $16,500
* Outstanding balance on the family credit card: $142,710
* Total budget cuts so far for next year: $3.85

We’re not running our family budget very well, are we?
