THE ‘RAPTURE REMNANT?’
PARTIAL RAPTURE VS. WHOLE RAPTUREA Biblical Defense of the Blessed Hope
by Luis B. Vega
…’Who have deviated from the Truth. They say that the Resurrection has already occurred, and they undermine the Faith of some. Nevertheless, GOD’S firm foundation stands, bearing this seal: ‘The LORD knows those who are His’, and ‘Everyone who calls on the name of the LORD must turn away from iniquity’. A large House contains not only Vessels of Gold and Silver, but also of Wood and Clay. Some indeed are for honorable use, but others are for common use’. -2 Timothy 2:18-20Does the Bible teach that the Rapture event will encompass the entire ‘Body of Christ?’ Are only those ‘worthy’ or vigilant Believers and Followers of Jesus going to be Raptured? Is the Rapture earned by doing ‘Works? Will any of the Faith of Jesus be ‘Left Behind’ to endure the Wrath of the Lamb during the 7-Year Tribulation Period? Or by contrast, will the Rapture event encompass all Christians regardless of their Spiritual State or Sin? To be clear, one does not believe in a ‘Partial Rapture’. Here below are one’s vantage points and understanding, up to this point in time.- There is a Full Rapture in that all those that will be Raptured will be.- The Rapture is not ‘earned’ by Works because it is given with Salvation.- The Rapture is a facet within the ‘Matrix’ of Salvation, all-inclusive.- The Remnant is very clear who they are in the Biblical Context and Comparison, Israel. One is of the interpretation that the Body of Christ will not be present once the Tribulation Period starts, whenever that will be. But those individuals that have abandoned the Faith of Jesus Christ, as warned about by Jesus in the Parables of the Wheat and the Tares, of the Wedding Banquet, and the one ‘taken and the other left behind’ will suffer that loss. They will have to endure along with the Tribulation Saints and the Jewish Remnant.Let us consider the word ‘Remnant’ and its definition. The word appears only 2 times in the New Testament, in the Book of Romans and the Book of Revelation. One’s point is that in both places, it is in context to the remnant being Israel. The Apostle Paul infers Israel's experience in the Past before the Church Age. And the Apostle John infers to what Israel will experience in the Future, during Daniel’s 70th Week or Prophetic Sabbath, etc.The Elected Remnant
The scriptural vantage point is from the present Church Age where the Dispensational Operation is based on Mercy and Grace, sandwiched by the 2 periods of the Law and ‘Works’. The Apostle Paul referenced the Remnant or ‘Elect’ in how even in the context of the Age of Grace, not all people during this present ‘Pentecostal Intermission’ that one calls the Church Age will choose or want to be saved, sadly._________________________DEFINITION: REMNANTrem·nant ˈrem-nəntNOUN1: A usually small part, member, or trace remaining.2: A small surviving group.3: An unsold or unused end of piece goods.ADJECTIVEStill remaining._________________________This Church Age Dispensation is the ‘Better Deal’ in how Grace and Mercy is extended to Humanity during this amazing time when Salvation is not ‘Work-Based’. But like with the World of Noah, most will reject it and say ‘No’. This is the tragedy of Israel and Humanity. Thus, one’s point is that worse, those that call themselves ‘Brethren’ and are ‘Saved’, and who likewise reject Christ after ‘tasting’ that the LORD is good, willfully choosing to sin and not repent will most likely be in danger of also forfeiting the Rapture. One is inclined to surmise that their ‘Rapture Ride’ is in danger of being ‘Revoked’. As pointed out scripturally of the types of how one can reject and leave one’s Faith in Jesus, then there is a promised Judgment coming. One does not say this, the Apostle Paul has. Does it not also say in Scripture that 'Judgment begins in the House of GOD?' Why would there be a need for that?HEBREWS 10
26 If we deliberately go on sinning after we have received the Knowledge of the Truth, no further Sacrifice for Sins remains, 27but only a fearful expectation of Judgment and of Raging Fire that will consume all Adversaries.Again, it is not about ‘working’ to earn one’s ‘Rapture Ride’, but to maintain it because one can reject the Relationship we have with Jesus, our ‘Groom’ that is one’s blessed hope to be realized. Consider the Remnant Israel in the Old Testament. YHVH divorced Israel for her not keeping her end of the Mosaic Covenant.1 PETER 2-42Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your Salvation, 3now that you have tasted that the LORD is good. 4As you come to Him, the Living Stone, rejected by men but chosen and precious in GOD’S sight.
The New CovenantWhat is different about the New Covenant is that it is unconditional, and that despite our unfaithfulness, Jesus can never ‘divorce’ us, nor desires to. But like the Church of Laodicea, He will spit out all those that ‘make Him sick’, in the sense that a Separation will be had instead, one is presuming. Here are the 2 specific verses in the entire New Testament where the word ‘Remnant’ is brought up to learn the lessons from Israel.ROMANS 11:5‘Even so then, at this present time also there is a Remnant according to the Election of Grace’.From one’s interpretation, the reference to Israel in the Past and its Future is now YHVH is faithful to preserve all those that seek to maintain that Covenant Relationship. But that in proportion to those that have been ‘Called’, only the ‘Few’ will be ‘Chosen’ as in response to the call enter and maintain the Relationships, with both Covenants, etc.REVELATION 12:1717And the Dragon was enraged at the Woman and went to make war with the rest of her Children, who keep the Commandments of GOD and hold to the Testimony of Jesus. And the Dragon stood on the shore of the Sea.In this context, the verse is from the famous Revelation 12 Sign. And that will coincide with the time during the midpoint of the 70th Week of Daniel, i.e., the Tribulation Period. It refers to those Jews that will realize the deception of the false Jewish Messiah. These are the Jews that remain faithful to the Testimony of Jesus and flee to the Wilderness. This will be their Exodus ‘2.0’, where the Remnant will be like in the Book of Exodus, be provided for and preserved, etc.One realizes that with such topics as the Rapture, we will not all agree nor accept that, but we do of each other. For example, some brethren believe that we are already in the Tribulation Period. There has been Tribulation for the Church since Day 1. The Tribulation that Jesus qualified at the Olivet Discourse is for the Jews. The Church or the Rapture was still a Mystery to the Jews, the Disciples at that point in time.It was only given to Paul later on for the Church to teach and comprehend. Nonetheless, it is a good conversation to have as the Blessed Hope approaches by the day. One hopes this has added to the discussion. One is glad this topic about ‘who gets to go in the Rapture’ is not a Salvation Issue. One is glad also that ‘Only GOD knows who are His’ and one will let GOD be GOD about it.
