We are in a valuable period of 3 Shabbat Torah Readings of important Scriptural Lessons from 10-25 to 11-1 to 11-8. These readings help us to reflect deeply upon the Noah and Lot narratives in the Book of Genesis. Key things to remember: 1. Destruction of the many, but 2. Escape and Protection for the attentive. Since the Messiah mentioned their days and times, we know they matter to Him. Very much.
At Cheshvan 3 and 4, 10-24 to 25, was the Week 2 Noah Reading Portion. Then, the next weekend of Cheshvan 9 to 10, from 10-31 to 11-1, includes part of the Lot narratives. Lot decides to TAKE AWAY his large herd of livestock which had been combined with that of his Uncle Avram (Abram). To the attractive and verdant Jordan River Valley. There is SEPARATION of the 2 men and the livestock. Lot is kidnapped, TAKEN AWAY. Then, he is RESCUED and TAKEN AWAY by Avram. SEPARATION, TAKEN AWAY, and RESCUED are harpazo motifs! Increasingly, no longer under the guidance and protection of Uncle Avram, means grave dangers ahead for Lot and his family.
The 3rd weekend, number 4 Torah Reading, continues and concludes the Lot narratives with more SEPARATION, TAKEN AWAY, and RESCUED motifs! It will be Cheshvan 16 to 17, 11-7 to 8. Ends with Genesis19. Let us ponder the tragic destruction of bodies and souls. but escape and protection for the attentive! Soon in 2025, will the autumnal Spectral Season during Cheshvan be The Season of The Blessed Hope?
With Love and Shalom,Jean
