Awesome audio file: this is what the late Dr Michael Heiser who had a PhD in Hebrew, wrote his thesis about. He calls it the Deuteronomy 32 worldview. 

After the tower of Babel, God divided the nations, 70 of them, according to the number of the Sons of God. Then in the next chapter, he chooses Israel for his own people. That’s why Jesus sent out the 70 as a recognition to bring back the nations.

Deuteronomy 32:8 (ESV) When the Most High gave to the nations their inheritance, when he divided mankind, he fixed the borders of the peoples according to the number of the (fallen, in rebellion) sons of God.

Deuteronomy 32:8 (NLT) When the Most High assigned lands to the nations, when he divided up the human race, he established the boundaries of the peoples according to the number in his heavenly court.

Psalm 82:1 (NLT) God presides over (the fallen) heaven’s court; he pronounces judgment on the heavenly beings…

6 I say, ‘You are gods; you are all children of the Most High. 

7 But you will die like mere mortals and fall like every other ruler.’”
