"REPLY TO MIKE P. -- BEING BORN AGAIN"

I don't believe in a works based salvation nor do I believe that Peter was the first Pope of the Catholic Church because they think the rock in Matthew 16:18 was Peter whose name means "rock" or "stone." Jesus said according to that verse, "And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it." The rock referred into that verse was Jesus just like He is the stone in Daniel 2:34 that "was cut out without hands, which smote the image upon his feet that were of iron and clay, and brake them to pieces." I don't believe in the Catholic purgatory nor praying to Mary either.  I am not a Catholic.

It sounds like you believe that the gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke & John only apply to the Jewish people, and they are the only ones that should be born again. Correct me if I'm wrong and you think otherwise.

I believe when a Jew or Gentile is born again, they become a new creature or new man in Christ. That is the new creature or new man that the apostle Paul discusses in the Bible verses in Corinthians, Colossians & Ephesians, and Peter, who was sent to the Jews, in 1 Peter refers to being born again as well as does John in the books of John & in 1 John, also in the verses below. First, a Christian is born in the flesh like all mankind is, but they are born again meaning they are born in the spirit and their spirit is regenerated by the Holy Spirit.

2 Cor. 5;17, "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new."

Colossians 3:9-11, "Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds; And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him: Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all."

Ephesians 4:22-24, "That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness."

1 Peter 1:3-4, "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,"

1 Peter 1:23, "Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever."

John 3:3, "Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God."

John 3:7, "Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again."

1 John 3:9, "Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God."

1 John 4:7, "Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God."

1 John 5:1, Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him.

1 John 5:4, "For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith."

1 John 5:18, "We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not."

How is a Christian a new creation? What does 2 Corinthians 5:17 mean?

"God is a Creator. He created the heavens and the earth and everything in them out of nothing (Genesis 1:1-31). "God said, 'Let there be light,' and there was light" (v. 3). In a similar way, God creates spiritual life and light in the hearts of men, and actually changes the human heart so that it can receive Him (Ezekiel 36:26). This is called regeneration, and occurs by the Spirit of God (John 3:5-8). The regenerated person believes and is "in Christ" at which point he has become a "new creation" (2 Corinthians 5:17). He is a new entity, the same way that a newborn baby is a new person. The old man has gone away, and a new man has arrived." FULL ARTICLE at above link.
