(Why was David like that, to suddenly begin to pray and sing?)

 

Acts 13:22c I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after mine own heart,

(Not only did David seek after the heart of the LORD, but David’s heart was more like the LORD’s heart than anyone else.

So, if a man after the LORD’s own heart, would spontaneously pray, sing, or worship out loud.

Then how much more, the LORD, himself, when he came in the flesh, would be instant in prayer and worship?)

I John 1:3b:  and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.

 

(When I had thought it strange, or even incredulous, it could be that maybe I was so far from that kind of fellowship.

Do I even want that close of fellowship, like John wanted, leaning his head upon Jesus’ breast in that upper room?

If the man after the LORD’s own heart had this kind of fellowship, then what about the fellowship of the LORD?)

 

John 1:18 No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.

 

(Somehow, even while on earth, Jesus could be in the bosom of the Father – he said, “which is in”, not “was in”.)

 

John 5:20a For the Father loveth the Son, and sheweth him all things that himself doeth:

 

(“sheweth”, is present tense, so the Father was shewing Jesus these things while Jesus was here on the earth.)

 

John 8:16b  for I am not alone, but I and the Father that sent me.

  29a And he that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone;

 

(The Father was right there with Jesus, all the time, so why wouldn’t Jesus suddenly speak out loud to the Father?)

 

John 11:41b And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me.

  42a And I knew that thou hearest me always:

 

(The Father and Son were in constant communion, so it must not have seemed strange for Jesus to suddenly pray or sing a psalm.)

 

(We can get in on that, if we want, and enjoy that special fellowship of the Father and the Son:)

 

I John 1:3 That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.

 

(The Father and Son have fellowship together, and we can have fellowship, both with the Father and with the Son.)

 

I John 2:24b If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father.

 

(When we are saved, the person of the Holy Ghost comes into us:)

 

I Corinthians 6:19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?

 

(However, if we desire, when can have even greater fellowship, with even the Father and the Son abiding in us, as well:)

 

John 14:23 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.

 

(And this is the fellowship that we have in eternity:)

 

Revelation 21:22 And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it.

 

(And we can even enjoy eternal life now:)

 

John 17:3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

 

(So, if we can have that kind of fellowship now, why would we be so afraid to pray and worship anytime, anyplace?

Apparently, David had that kind of close fellowship, so why not us?)
