THE ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION
(fivedoves.com) an army or armies
can cause desolation or destruction as in Luke 21:20,
but no where in the Bible were any of the armies that
invaded Jerusalem called an abomination of
desolation. Jerusalem was invaded by the
Babylonians, the Medes, the Persians, the Greeks, the
Romans & the Turks from the Ottoman Empire.
The following verses in Matt. 24:15, and
Mark 13:14 are referring to Daniel 11:31 & 12:11
below:
Matthew 24:15, "When ye
therefore shall see the
abomination of desolation, spoken
of by Daniel the
prophet, stand in the
holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)"
Mark 13:14, "But when ye
shall see the abomination of
desolation, spoken of
by Daniel the
prophet, standing where it
ought not, (let him that readeth understand,) then let
them that be
in Judaea flee to the
mountains:"
Daniel
11:31, "And arms shall stand on his part, and they
shall pollute the sanctuary of strength, and shall take away the daily sacrifice, and they shall place the abomination that maketh desolate."
Daniel
12:11, "And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, there
shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days."
Therefore, Jerusalem surrounded
by armies is not the same thing as the
abomination of desolation being set up in
the holy place,
You will find that the Lord considers a
graven image of other gods to be abominations
according Deut. 7:25, & Deut. 27:15. And
going after other gods and worshipping them was also
called an abomination described in 1 Kings 11:7 &
2 Kings 23:13.
In the light of the fact that the False Prophet
(the 2nd beast) in the future is going to have an
image of the beast (Antichrist) set up for
worship by all the people according to Rev. 13:11-15,
this could be considered the abomination of
desolation. Worshipping the image of the beast
is going to cause complete destruction of the soul for
they will end up in the lake of fire separated from
the Lord.
