"the winepress"

(The winepress:)

Revelation 14:17 And another angel came out of the temple which is in heaven, he also having a sharp sickle.
18 And another angel came out from the altar, which had power over fire; and cried with a loud cry to him that had the sharp sickle, saying, Thrust in thy sharp sickle, and gather the clusters of the vine of the earth; for her grapes are fully ripe.
19 And the angel thrust in his sickle into the earth, and gathered the vine of the earth, and cast it into the great winepress of the wrath of God.
20 And the winepress was trodden without the city, and blood came out of the winepress, even unto the horse bridles, by the space of a thousand and six hundred furlongs.

(This is the other part of the harvest, which also involves gathering together the bad fruit for judgment.
Here, they are referred to as grapes of the vine of the earth.)

Deuteronomy 32:32 For their vine is of the vine of Sodom, and of the fields of Gomorrah: their grapes are grapes of gall, their clusters are bitter:

(Similarly, the LORD’s own people had turned from him, and had turned into wild grapes:)

Isaiah 5:2 And he fenced it, and gathered out the stones thereof, and planted it with the choicest vine, and built a tower in the midst of it, and also made a winepress therein: and he looked that it should bring forth grapes, and it brought forth wild grapes.
4 What could have been done more to my vineyard, that I have not done in it? wherefore, when I looked that it should bring forth grapes, brought it forth wild grapes?

(Is not this where we realize that the winepress is in Israel, and includes the part of Edom where some of his people will be hidden?
First, Jesus has the people gathered against Israel, like grapes gathered into a winepress.
Then, when Jesus comes back down to the earth, he, himself, will judge them, and their blood will be sprinkled on his garments.
Will it not be similar to a man treading grapes in a winepress, where the red grape juice sprinkles all over his garments?)

Joel 3:13 Put ye in the sickle, for the harvest is ripe: come, get you down; for the press is full, the vats overflow; for their wickedness is great.

Isaiah 63:1 Who is this that cometh from Edom, with dyed garments from Bozrah? this that is glorious in his apparel, travelling in the greatness of his strength? I that speak in righteousness, mighty to save.
2 Wherefore art thou red in thine apparel, and thy garments like him that treadeth in the winefat?
3 I have trodden the winepress alone; and of the people there was none with me: for I will tread them in mine anger, and trample them in my fury; and their blood shall be sprinkled upon my garments, and I will stain all my raiment.

Jeremiah 25:30 Therefore prophesy thou against them all these words, and say unto them, The LORD shall roar from on high, and utter his voice from his holy habitation; he shall mightily roar upon his habitation; he shall give a shout, as they that tread the grapes, against all the inhabitants of the earth.

Revelation 19:15 And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.

(The world shed Jesus’ blood outside the city, now he also will shed theirs, without the city:)

Hebrews 13:13 Let us go forth therefore unto him without the camp, bearing his reproach.

(There are those who say that the blood will flow like a river as deep as a horse’s bridle.
However, isn’t Jesus likened to a man treading grapes in a winepress, where the blood is sprinkled all over, as high as the bridle?)

II Kings 9:33 And he said, Throw her down. So they threw her down: and some of her blood was sprinkled on the wall, and on the horses: and he trode her under foot.

Genesis 49:10 The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be.
11 Binding his foal unto the vine, and his ass’s colt unto the choice vine; he washed his garments in wine, and his clothes in the blood of grapes:

(A furlong is a block, ⅛ of a mile, and by the way, 1600 furlongs is the distance from Bozrah to Megiddo, 200 miles.)
