If you have never seen this movie from 1959, I highly advise seeing it! Take a very close look at Zechariah 14:12 in the Old Testament! This describes perfectly the effects of a nuclear war, and in fact based on this Scripture I believe there will indeed be a nuclear war during the upcoming 7 year Tribulation Period after the Rapture!
This movie is both riveting and entertaining! You will find the entire movie on YouTube, and there is a year 2000 remake that I believe is also well worth watching! I have simply sent all of you the opening credits of the 1959 movie. I actually saw this movie when it was released in 1959 (I was 9 years old), and it had a profound effect on me, and I believe it also had a small part in my accepting Christ (Israel's long rejected Messiah) in 1979 twenty years later. Through the years I have seen this movie (and the year 2000 remake) many, many times, and I never tire of it!
So, get out your popcorn and Cokes, and have a movie night this weekend! Gregory Peck does a magnificent job of acting, perhaps his best role ever!
P.S. In the opening credits you will see a United States submarine surfacing off the coast of Australia. There had just been a nuclear war in the northern hemisphere, and all life there has died. Only Australia remains, and this submarine is the last of the United States. Gregory Peck is its captain. Only months remain for Australia as the radiation will be drifting into the southern hemisphere. A very chilling movie, and the music is quite powerful too!
