This year has a fascinating convergence of dates: from evening 12-1 to 2 will be the beginning of the Advent Season. Then at sundown on 12-2 will be Hanukkah Eve, the beginning of the Season of Hanukkah. Each highlights the First Coming of the Messiah of Israel. Advent celebrates His First Coming 20 centuries ago. Hanukkah celebrates and highlights the events from 168 to 165 BC. The stories concern the few guerilla fighters against the blasphemy of "go Greek or die" of Antiochus Epiphanes IV of Syria and his murderous ilk. Yet, the story LATER is most profound: The Preparing of The Way for the arrival of the Messiah of Israel, the Redeemer of humankind about 160 years later. Then John the Baptist, cousin to the Messiah, continued to PREPARE THE WAY. The weekend of 12-1 to 2 will indeed be spiritually distinctive and.special. Please read my articles about Hanukkah in fives doves archives from December 2017, from 12-3-2017. We shall see...
With Love and Shalom,
Jean
