"THE CONTINGENCY OF DREAMS"

If I could fly a plane so high,
And slice my way through the clouds,
I’d bear the opinion that air is my dominion,
While doing the Wright Brothers proud.

I’d readily spear through the dense atmosphere,
Gliding in my grand machine,
As free and as regal as a high-soaring eagle,
So as never again to be seen.

And as I swirled above the world,
Aviating my course to Heaven,
I’d sadly ponder the people down yonder,
Who won’t even eat bread unleavened.

But then again, I’m never locked-in,
Heading in one direction,
If my plane started falling, I’d opt for a new calling,
And pray for Jesus to perform the correction.

I could as easily launch a ship so staunch,
To navigate the boundless sea,
I could heed the notion to explore the ocean,
And out on the horizon I’d be.

I’d then cut my path through Neptune’s wrath,
With my sails firmly set on the masts,
I’d bravely roam across the foam,
Avoiding the shadows that Poseidon casts.

My fantasies bend – but they never end,
Even when my ship springs a leak,
In following each theme I’m refining my dream,
Seeking God with a heart that is humble and meek.

Our Christian vision may be held in derision,
But Hope in our Savior can never be diminished,
When Jesus stretched out each arm to sound the alarm,
He victoriously proclaimed, “It is Finished!”

It is easy to say, “Just endure another day”,
When in reality our lives are busted and broken,
Our Faith in the Lord is all we can afford,
And hope that our prayer is finally awoken.

Although the times of present may not be so pleasant,
Eternity will be worth this exhausting wait,
Just fortify your stand in the shifting sand,
For the Rapture will SOON become our Blessed Fate!
