TONGUES .......?

       What is "speaking in tongues" ?  Why did Paul say that of all the Gifts of the
Holy Spirit,  he favored speaking in tongues above all the other Gifts ?  I have heard
some folks claim they have the ability to do this, but when they are filmed doing it,
they sound like they are babbling in a completely unintelligible manner. So what is
the possible benefit to anyone hearing them?  Paul's letters were primarily to those
who were to witness and carry the Good News to any and all (to whom the H.S. led
them to),  So, how does babbling accomplish that?  It doesn't !  I think the babblers
are confused as to what speaking in tongues really is.  We were given an example
of the REAL Blessing of Tongues when the Disciples peached to the crowd in the
native Languages of those gathered before them.  They were then accused of being
Drunk, which was then refuted as it was too early in the morning for that.  It is implied
that the Disciples didn't know the native languages, but were given the ability to
speak it by the Holy Spirit.  The REASON for this was to facilitate the Spread of the
Good News more readily.  THAT....makes sense, NOT babbling that does NOTHING
but make the babbler feel good (superior ? ).  I Know that those filming these people
who profess to have the "gift",  are trying to discredit the claimers and are probably
successful to some degree.  The babblers come off looking like fools,  which I believe
they are.  Babbling does NOTHING to advance the Good News, so why do it ?  Those
with the Holy Spirit in dwelt aren't Fools. They, are in touch with the Wisdom of GOD,
and HE doesn't babble.  In these modern times we don't need to know the languages
of others, we have interpreters and computers. This (in my opinion) is the fulfillment
of the Prophecy that in the End Times ALL would HEAR, ....and the Word Comes by
HEARING.  Do YOU,  HEAR YOUR SAVIOR'S VOICE ?   You CAN,  ask HIM to SPEAK
to YOU.....it'll Change Your Life.  BTW,  HIS VOICE is CLEAR and UNMISTAKABLE.
           and.....HE doesn't babble.
