I believe we all have to be hyper alert after the hideous attacks in France. This may very well be the HUGE excuse somebody needs to blast Damascus into oblivion. The world will be horrified but will have the Paris massacres still fresh in the collective consciousness. It's the only way the annihilation of Damascus will be deemed as a necessary warning to the radical Islamists. Otherwise - the world would not deem it remotely acceptable.

Obviously - this is conjecture. It does make the hair on the back of my neck stand up though.
