"Questions about years, Jubilee"

Hi John and Doves,

I have 2 questions.  I am hoping that somebody here can help me out.

  1.  Why is there so much insistence on a prophetic 360-day year rather than the 365-day year for Biblical calculations?  Our solar year is 365 days, and Biblical 360-day years have to adjust to that in order to stay on track, by adding a 13th month every few years, called Adar 2, similar to a leap-year idea.  If they did not do this, the year would slip around the seasons and Nisan would no longer be in the Spring for the barley harvest, nor Tishrei in the Fall for the grape harvest.  So to me it does not make sense to count years with a 360-day year in our current mode of travel around the sun.  Any explanations that would help?
  2.  I do not understand the current fad that this is a Jubilee year.  I have heard about the 50-
year pattern 1917 (Balfour)-1967(Jerusalem) explanation, but if you are counting 50 years apart, the next one would be 2017, not 2015, and that does not line up with a post-Shmittah year.  By my Scriptural understanding, Jesus declared the Jubilee year on Yom Kippur in synagogue when he read the Scriptures (Luke 4:18) at the beginning of His ministry.  He will also return to declare the Jubilee on Yom Kippur at His 2nd Coming  (Isaiah 61), and you can see the reflected types in Rev. 19 with the grape harvest and winepress of the Fall Feasts at His return.  For Jesus to come at Jubilee, there needs to be 7 years of Tribulation ahead of that, and with so many signs of His soon return (Israel, etc.), it is not possible to have another 50 years on the agenda before He returns.  I therefore cannot see how anyone can call THIS a Jubilee year.  Further, I asked a few Rabbis, and it has been explained to me that Israel does not know herself when Jubilee is, and has not celebrated it since returning to the Land, because it is required that ALL Jews be home, back in the Land before they can observe it and parcel out the Land back to rightful owners.  This too, will happen at Jesus return, because we see that He will gather them from the 4 corners of earth back to Israel at that time, and the Land is His, and the inheritance of the Jews.  I think that declaring Jubliee this year is premature.

    Thoughts and studies appreciated.
