This morning I was impressed to look into "chaff". Then my daughter called after a 4 day church seminar (they are pastors) and mentioned reading Dan 2:34 and how the jist of it is that Jesus crushes the world systems...well I turned to the passage and saw something about CHAFF! We have been pondering the implications in "grain". The Barley Harvest is characterized by a chaff that falls away easily and naturally while the Wheat has to be threshed of it's chaff. God wants the dead works of the flesh to fall away and no longer be a part of us. We have all possessed it (sin) in various ways. In the Tribulation those that have not voluntarily and obediently released this chaff previously, will be separated from it, since as professing believers, albeit not obedient ones, they have given the Lord permission to thresh them. This is redemptive and actually loving on His part. The chaff will be thrown into the fire and burned..never to be a part of them again. Interesting how we interpret scripture to fit our preconceived ideas. It doesn't even make sense for the "chaff" to be 'sinners'... when it is taken off of the 'wheat'. There are allusions to people being LIKE chaff...but that is not BEING chaff.L Lee
