"GINO and MY DISCLAIMER (11-26-12 Post)"

Hi Gino, I just wanted to pop back in here and do a follow-up/disclaimer to my post to you of 11-26-12.  I agree with much that the author of lovethetruth.com said regarding God's Word, but I disagree with what he wrote on KJV-only and Lordship Salvation.  (Onus on me because I failed to read the entire article before posting.)

  1. KJV ONLY. I disagree with the author that we should beware all modern Bibles.  I far prefer my NKJV and NASV to the KJV...just easier to read and recommended by many Biblical authorities. And don't know what to say about the sensational comment on the NIV.  Do remember at one time being told that certain passages were left out so never purchased an NIV for my library.  But I've also heard some outstanding sermons from much-beloved pastors who quote from the NIV.
  2. LORDSHIP SALVATION. I disagree with the author that this is "heresy."  And I've come to agree with John MacArthur and A.W. Tozer on this subject (love these guys)...see below. May have disagreed when younger, but as I get older (64 going on 65), I tend to appreciate more and more the Godly wisdom and maturity from these two men.
  • John MacArthur: "It has now been 15 years since The Gospel According to Jesus was first published and the lordship of Christ became a matter of intense debate among evangelicals. That book stood for the simple proposition that the gospel is a call to surrender to the lordship of Christ in humble, repentant faith." http://www.gty.org/Resources/Articles/2263

  • A.W. Tozer: "Savior But Not Lord? In the New Testament salvation and discipleship are so closely related as to be indivisible. They are not identical, but as with Siamese twins they are joined by a tie which can be severed only at the price of death." http://www.cmalliance.org/devotions/tozer?id=744

Thank you for reading and appreciate your posts.  God is good!  Blessings!
