Dear jfh,

I would be very careful reading Apocrypha.  Yes, the Book of Jasher is 'mentioned' in the Bible, but you don't know if the version you have in your hand or seeing online is a true version.  Someone emailed it to me awhile ago, I read some of it, and it was in direct contradiction to the Holy Bible.  Apocrypha isn't Scripture and your Apocryphal version could very well be in error.

I would not say we won't have a pole shift, because:

Revelation 6:14

"And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places."

The earth's crust (mantle) will move rapidly over it's core, and if you are looking up, it will appear that the heavens are 'departing like a scroll'.  That depicts a "pole shift".

There is nothing new under the sun; what happened before will happen again.  I agree with you, God does the pole-shifting; along with everything else, including the Great Earthquake.  Jesus opens the Seals, His angels will be sounding the Trumpets, then God's Wrath (Vials/Bowls poured out). 

I also agree with you that God will create a Lake of Fire for the devil and his followers at the end.  Anyone taking the mark of the beast will be in it.
