Senior officials in the Palestinian Authority have vowed to ostracise Mr Blair after claiming that he had abused his position as a neutral to lobby European powers to vote against a Palestinian bid for statehood that has been submitted to the United Nations Security Council.
The Palestinians allegedly refused to acknowledge Mr Blair, addressing all their comments instead to senior officials from the United States, the European Union, the United Nations and Russia – the Quartet's four constituent members.
"There was nothing to talk to Mr Blair about," a senior Palestinian official familiar with the talks said. "We do not consider him the leader of the Quartet. He said almost nothing during the whole meeting."
