"The most interesting man in the world", has certainly been an advertising theme that captured the wishful thoughts of many.The thought of a life filled with a never ending series of adventure, world travel, danger, romance, no burdensome commitments, and plenty of glory, was encapsulated in the portrayal of one man.How many had secretly wished that their life was more like that, especially the older they were getting.Apparently the image portrayed for those watching the advertisements, was of a man that enjoyed that life for over 40 years, but without wife, children, or grandchildren in the picture.How would that life wind down, when the age and strength was no longer able to sustain the adventure?Who would visit him when he would be very sick, and weak, in bed?No legacy of love, where he would have poured himself into the life and hearts of loved ones over those 40+ years?Had he built businesses, invented things, changed lives, or communities for the better?Did he ever put his trust in Jesus, and believe the gospel?
Luke 16:22 And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham’s bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried;
23 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.
24 And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.
The rich man was in torments, and was suffering from thirst.It is sad that the commercial ends with the most interesting man in the world admonishing others to, "Stay thirsty my friends".
