Watching the video it looks like the Chinese like Putin a
lot more than they do Trump. Putin was greeted with a
much more friendly China. Xi didn't personally meet
either at the airport.
China is Russia's biggest backer. And appears
to be the bigger partner of the two.
This Putin visit is being called a high stakes
visit. China activated their "zone 2" security
plan. Beijing was put under high alert with increased
security. Heavy security was deployed across the
capitol with police checkpoints set up on major
streets. Airports were under tighter security.
Uber services were restricted. Airlines were told to
expect full stops. Temporary airspace closures were
setup..NOTAMS. Probably much the same for Trump's
visit
China and Russia are signalling the West. This is
geopolitical theatre. China is setting itself in the
center of Russia and the US. China and Russia are both
working together to oppose US superpower status.
The US sanctions have pushed Russia closer to China.
Both China and Russia are allies of Iran.
Russia wants China to buy more Russian oil. And
continue their support for the Russian war against Ukraine.
This is a new global alignment and China wants the
spotlight.
Anyone else finding the timing of this Russian visit
'interesting'? The optics are certainly
interesting. And we don't know if Xi and Putin talked
about 'the US problem' in addition to oil and Ukraine.
