Chance,That was a very good analysis.Again, you apparently do quite a bit of research. And your analyses and conclusions are generally correct and prescient.
I agree, that there is the possibility that the president's strategy could also backfire, leading to war. That would be terrible, even for China trying to deflect internal focus, to external focus. If not selling their wares to the US due to tariffs is extremely painful to their nation, how much more after the importing markets are possibly destroyed? As well as after much of their own industry possibly destroyed at the same time? Both nations would lose so much, that they likely wouldn't remain economic / military superpowers after a war between them.
The other possibility, of the people overthrowing their government in China, would no doubt come at a high cost for the nation, for some time to come.It is no doubt the least desirable possibility from the perspective of those currently in power in China.
So, the remaining possibility, where there is a trade deal worked out between the two nations, may not necessarily be what powerbrokers in China have hoped for. However, it may be the least problematic option for China, and may allow their current leadership to remain in power.
What do you think?Am I looking at this a little too simplistically?Or are there even more possibilities than those three, mentioned above, which may be more likely outcomes for this current crisis?
