This is WEIRD.  We are all aware that the powers-that-be send subtle or not-so-subtle messages to each other via mainstream media. For some outlandish reason, this date stuff has made news headlines. It must be important because Medvedev (Russia) made a media song and dance about it. It's seemingly trivial stuff. Considering what else is at stake around the world.
