Apostasy has to do with falling away from the Christian faith and truth in the Bible which can be seen in the liberal churches of today who accept abortion and homosexuality and who don't believe that these are sins along with the denial of the virgin birth of Jesus and in His resurrection to name a few. I also wonder if some of the unrighteous in the church who claim to be Christians, but their fruits show otherwise will completely fall away when they see the signs and wonders performed by the Antichrist and believe him to be God.
