"Am I doing this?"

Am I doing this?

Ezra 7:10 For Ezra had prepared his heart to seek the law of the LORD, and to do it, and to teach in Israel statutes and judgments.

When I read the scriptures, do I simply begin to read?
Or have I prepared my heart to seek the scriptures?
Do I tremble at his word, or do I simply read it?

Isaiah 66:5a Hear the word of the LORD, ye that tremble at his word;

Do I read the scriptures only after I've eaten, or after first taking care of my physical needs?
Or how do I esteem his words?

Job 23:12b I have esteemed the words of his mouth more than my necessary food.

Is his word really the joy and rejoicing of my heart?

Jeremiah 15:16 Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O LORD God of hosts.

Before I begin reading, do I at least pray something like?

Psalms 119:18 Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law.

Do I only read the scriptures, or do I study the scriptures?

II Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Do I only read the scriptures, or do I search the scriptures?

Acts 17:11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.
