"Can they possibly be different views, rather than totally sequential?"

Can parts of the book of Revelation possibly be different views/perspectives, rather than totally sequential?
The four gospels are four perspectives, not the accounts of four separate comings of Jesus Christ.
So, can parts of Revelation be like that?
I was always taught that the book is totally sequential.
However, that leaves me with some questions, for example with the beast:

First, in chapter 11, the beast ascends out of the bottomless pit to kill the two witnesses:

Revelation 11:7 And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that ascendeth out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them.

Then in chapter 13, the beast rises up out of the sea, to continue 42 months and to make war with the saints:

Revelation 13:1 And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy.
5 And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months.
7 And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.

Then in chapter 17, the beast ascends out of the bottomless pit again, to go into perdition:

Revelation 17:8 The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is.
11 And the beast that was, and is not, even he is the eighth, and is of the seven, and goeth into perdition.

Coming up three times seems a little difficult to understand, which would be the case if it is all totally sequential, chronological.
But if these are different descriptions of a similar thing, then it is easier, at least for me, to understand.
Am I way off?
Is it all totally sequential, chronological, and I simply need to get with the program, and to stop wondering about it?
