Interested Readers -
I looked at the numbers of each of the opening statements made by the Lord Jesus to the seven churches in the book of Revelation, and discovered that the address to the church of Symrna is unique.
The Lord addresses each of the letters in the same way, as with Smyrna shown here:
Revelation 2:8
"And unto the angel of the church in Smyrna write; These things saith the first and the last, which was dead, and is alive; ..."
...and each verse has a total gematria value (as with all Bible verses) - but, this verse's gematria has two other verses in the book of Revelation that match it!
That number is 10489.
The other two verses in Revelation that have the same value are -
Revelation 5:3
"And no man in heaven, nor in earth, neither under the earth, was able to open the book, neither to look thereon."
Revelation10:2
"And he had in his hand a little book open: and he set his right foot upon the sea, and his left foot on the earth. ..."
All three verses have a total value of 10489, and you can verify that here:

The first verse to each of the other six churches are as follows:
#1 Ephesus has no total verse gematria match in the Bible.
#3 Pergamos has no total gematria value match in the Bible.
#4 Thyatira has no total gematria value match in the Bible.
#5 Sardis has no total gematria value match in the Bible.
#6 Philadelphia has one other match and that is Luke 9:23.
#7 Laodicea has one other match and that is Acts 5:40.
I can't offer the reader an explanation for why the Lord singled out this church that way, but any reader who has some insight might post it here with the Five Doves.
In addition ...
You might see the pattern in the other 10489 verses; they both mention "a book".
You might also see something of note in the Philadelphia and Laodecia church verses. The author of both the Gospel of Luke verse, and the Book of Acts verse are Luke, the beloved physician.
