By the time NASA invents a practice plasma rocket engine (Maybe 20 years?)making solar system voyages practical, mankind will have quantum computers making possible the first self aware android robots ... uploading human consciousness to these robots... making man into a machine that can endure even interstellar voyages...

It will not be necessary to bring along air and water for life forms, just frozen embryos that could at the end of a 1000 year interstellar voyage be mutated to adapt to an alien world....  the Pandora movie !!!  or Aka  Heinlein’s novel !

So, without GODs timely intervention, man would soon become a Star Trek Borg type creature crossing the vast interstellar distances, assimilating the universe into a hybrid humanity...
