"Re: Kings And Priests Unto God"

Beloved in Christ,

I have been asking the Lord increasingly to help me see and understand my inheritance in Christ. I have asked for revelation knowledge to give hope, build up and encourage the Body of Christ.

When He pointed me to Revelation 1:6 "And hath made us Kings and Priests unto God...",
He helped me to understand this concept in simple terms. Indeed, He wants us to know that there is a glorious calling for those who are His: A Royal Priesthood!

Blessings,
Terri H.

KINGS  AND  PRIESTS  UNTO  GOD        By Terri Hill

“And (He) HATH MADE US KINGS AND PRIESTS unto God”; Revelation 1:6. Old Testament types/shadows reveal New Testament realities; Colossians 2:7; Hebrews 8:5.

1. Jesus is our Great High Priest; Hebrews 3:1; 5:1-10; 8:1-5

a. The Tribe of LEVI (means “union; joined”) produced the Priesthood; Exodus 28:1; Deuteronomy 10:8; Leviticus 21:6-24; 1 Peter 2:5.

b. Every priest (in both Old and New Covenants) is set apart (sanctified), dressed and consecrated for office; Exodus 40:12; Leviticus 16:32; Ephesians 5:26; Revelation 19:8.

2. Jesus is the King of kings; Daniel 4:17, 24-26; Revelation 1:5; 17:14; 19:16

a. The Tribe of JUDAH (means “praise”) produced the kings; Genesis 49:10; Psalm 45:6; Hebrews 1:8; Revelation 5:5

b. The faithful servant, the “overcomer”, will rule and reign with Jesus Christ; Matthew 24:45-47; 25:21-23; Revelation 2:26-27; 3:21.

3. The King-Priest Ministry reveals a Royal Priesthood; Genesis 14:18; 1 Peter 2:9.

a. Our “great salvation” (Hebrews 2:3), consists of:

     1. The priestly aspect - ministry of salvation, atonement, healing, deliverance

     2. The kingly aspect - administers the divine law of the scepter: authority and justice

            b. We are to walk in a PRIESTLY function, but also exercise KINGLY dominion!

THE PRIESTLY FUNCTION. Duties of the priests included the following:

1. They Maintain The Tabernacle; Numbers 3:38; 1 Corin. 6:19. The Lord is bringing His dwelling place (us) into divine order, building everything according to His pattern.  He is taking inventory in His “house”, and measuring the details within His temple; Ezek. 40:3.

2. They Burn Incense; Exodus 30:1-8; Rev. 5:8. This perpetual incense is praying without ceasing; 1 Thess. 5:17. A Royal Priesthood has both hands full of incense; left hand: praise and worship unto God; right hand: prayer and ministry for humanity; Lev. 16:12.

3. They Offer Sacrifices; Leviticus 1:1-17; 1 Peter 2:4-5. We bring a sacrifice of praise; we present our bodies as a living sacrifice; Rom. 12:1. We give offerings of our time and resources. Some bring a “burnt offering”, their very best to God’s altar; Gen. 22:2.

4. They Blow The Trumpets; Numbers 10:1-10; Luke 3:4-5. They declare God’s Word; Hosea 8:1. They announce the Jubilee and movements of the camp. God’s voice is a clear word, like a trumpet. John was “caught up” into heaven at the sound of it; Rev. 1:10.

5. They Carry The Ark; Josh. 3:6-17; 2 Corinthians 4:7. Priests carry the Ark of God, His presence by the Spirit. It represents God’s throne, His government, His glory, the complete victory of Jesus, the Kingdom in manifestation and power; 1 Corinthians 4:20.

6. They Teach The Law; Leviticus 10:11; Romans 13:10. This law is written upon the heart; Heb. 8:10. They teach and live the royal law of love; James 2:8. They teach the law of the spirit of life, freedom from condemnation and the law of sin and death; Rom. 8:1-2

7. They Light The Lamps; Exodus 27:20-21; Rev. 1:20. Priests carry the light of the glorious Gospel: the understanding and revelation of Christ and His word. They pass this light on to others 2 Corin. 4:4-6. The “lampstand” is the witness of the church; Rev. 1:13.

8. They Continue The Sacred Fire; Leviticus 7:12-13; Matthew 3:11. The “fire” is God Himself; He is a consuming fire; Hebrews 12:29. It is also the word in the mouth of His servants; Jeremiah 23:29. The fire will prove all of our works; 1 Corinthians 3:13.

9. They Purify The Unclean; Leviticus 15:15-31; Titus 2:14. They have a revelation of cleansing through the blood of Jesus, therefore they bring the “unclean” to salvation; Acts 10:14-15. They speak the word and bring cleansing to “leprous ones”; 2 Kings 5:1-14.

10. They Bless The People; Numbers 6:23-27; 1 Corinthians 4:12. Others are blessed through their labors of love and deeds of kindness. They cause others to inherit a blessing; 1 Peter 3:9. They cause the nations of the earth to be blessed; Galatians 3:8.

THE KINGLY FUNCTION. These are attributes and descriptions of a king / ruler:

1. They Are Seated (principles of rest, “overcomers” and the Mercy Seat). He made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus; Eph. 1:20-23; 2:6-7; Exodus 25:17-22

2. They Utilize A Scepter Or Rod – Exodus 4:2; Psalm 23:4; 110:2; Esther 5:2; Rev. 2:27

3. Their Birth And Obedience Qualifies Them – Genesis 49:10; Deuteronomy 17:14-20

4. They Must Be Trained For Their Office – Galatians 4:1-7; Hebrews 5:8-10

5. They Are Chosen And Removed By God – 1 Samuel 15:10-26; 16:1; Romans 13:1

6. They Govern And Rule From A Throne – a throne is a seat of authority, from which their influence is known; Luke 13:29; 19:17-19; Revelation 20:4

7. They Are Judges Upon The Earth – Psalm 2:10; 1 Samuel 8:19-22; 1 Corinthians 6:2-3

8. They Are Associated With Honor and Wisdom – 1 Kings 3:9-13; Proverbs 25:2

9. Their Heart Is In The Hand Of The Lord – Exodus 9:12; 2 Chron. 6:7-10; Prov. 21:1

10. They Administer Divine Justice – 2 Kings 23:4-25; 2 Chronicles 9:8; Psalm 89:14

a. To the extent that I yield to God’s Kingdom authority now (in obedience to His written and spoken Word), this will determine the level of authority entrusted by God to flow through me. It’s TRAINING TIME for REIGNING TIME!

b. The Church does not “set up” the Kingdom; it is already prepared for us; Matt. 25:34.

c. His Kingdom is within us, and it has no end; Luke 1:33; Luke 17:20-21.

d. In God’s Kingdom there is unity; His Kingdom is not divided against itself; Mark 3:24.

e. His Kingdom is both present and future; it is stable and cannot be moved; Heb. 12:28.
