Dear John, Ryan and Doves:

I would be remiss were I not to point out that preparation for both the Rapture and escalating tribulation is the same.  This point did not emerge in Ryan's post.  We are to repent of all known sin, make restitution where possible, be reconciled to our Creator, our fellow-believers, and if possible be at peace with all men.  Our preparation is to be a return to holy living.  If any think that preparation for Rapture is to "clean up your act" but preparation for tribulation is to buy freeze-dried food, a gun and a sleeping bag and then be prepared to "bug out" to some remote location does not get it.  "Equipment required to survive" is vague and variable anyway.  If we are here for tribulation -- ask Richard Wurmbrand or any who have been through it -- the only preparation that will matter is spiritual.  If the bad guys go house-to-house looking for those of us on the "Red List" then my storehouse of MRE's won't help.

We're not called to hide out or hunker down, and in view of the recent martial law drill in Boston, having a basement full of provisions may be no benefit at all.

We are to clean up our spiritual lives so we can hear the Holy Spirit with clarity.  Indwelling sin gives the enemy a base camp in your life, and from that location Satan transmits jamming signals, temptations, and filth.  If you spend more time watching TV than in prayer, you know where your mind goes when it wanders.  When you try to think Biblically, you may get "The Oprah Channel" instead.

So definitely prepare:  get your spiritual house in order - take out the trash - read Psalm 1 and learn to "meditate on His law day and night."  A tree planted by rivers of water is healthy and hard to uproot.  Going into tribulation with unresolved sin will be frightening.  Going to the Bema seat in that condition will be a whole lot worse.

Jesus is coming soon.  I think that a rapture event on or before May 19th is extremely likely - it certainly fits with the rest of the prophetic puzzle.  Be ready!
