"Hearing the audible voice of the Lord"

After reading Gino's post today, I felt led to share what happened to me about 25 years ago.  I was in a physically/emotionally abusive marriage where hardly a day went by without a major confrontation.  One afternoon, while my son was taking his nap and his father had gone back to work, I knelt by the side of the bed and just poured out my heart to the Lord.  I had a Bible but it pretty much was just a dust collector.  I had no idea what was in it.  While kneeling and crying I HEARD a voice that said, "Linda, you are mine."  I looked up because it was so clear I was sure someone had come in the room even though the door to the apartment was locked.

About 3-4 days later at a laundromat I saw a Guideposts magazine and picked it up to scan through it.  About halfway through the magazine, my eyes lit upon the verse from Isaiah 41:1 "Fear not, I have called thee by name, thou art mine."   I put the magazine down and cried.  I didn't know about confirmations from the Lord or any of that stuff.  I only knew it was not my imagination.  He really did speak to me.

I have told this to a few others and most of them have pooh-poohed it.  They told me that doesn't happen anymore.  Now God speaks through His Word.  That is true, but I am not so ignorant of what the Bible says anymore.  My Bible says "I am the Lord God, I change not."   If He chooses to speak in an audible voice to someone, who are we to say He cannot do that?  I tell them,  "You could have been in that room and you wouldn't have heard Him because He was not speaking to you.  He was speaking to me."

Thank you.....and Maranatha!!
