"Get thee behind me, Satan:"

Mat 16:21  From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day.
Mat 16:22  Then Peter took him, and began to rebuke him, saying, Be it far from thee, Lord: this shall not be unto thee.
Mat_16:23  But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.

I have heard people say that Jesus called Peter satan.
We know that Peter is not satan, and we know that if we were told of the things to befall Jesus, we too If we love Him would say as Peter did,"no it must not happen." for Peter did not know why Jesus had to die at this point in time.
And we know that Peter didn't savor the things of men and not the things of God. Although Jesus turned and looked at Peter, He was addressing satan.
Yes satan put this in Peter's mind to say, hoping Jesus would then be tempted. And Jesus may have been tempted for a moment, thinking, I could stop it from happening. But of course Jesus overcame temptation as He did earlier on.

Luk 4:7  If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine.
Luk 4:8  And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.
