Garry,

You wrote....

Are the following scriptures describing the same event ?

Matthew 24:31 (KJV)

31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

1 Corinthians 15:51-52 (KJV)

51 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,

52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 (KJV)

16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

My answer to you  is no......These three passages from scripture are not all referring to the rapture of the Christian church, only the last two from Corinthians and Thessalonians.

In the passage you copied from Matt. 24:31 Jesus is talking to Jews about Jews and what will happen to the Jews during the end time period of approximately seven years. He is also talking about what will happen to His elect ......"the whole house of Israel"........ during this period.  What happens to them is one of the greatest stories of the bible...... that .......no one ever writes about.  What Jesus is referring to in Matt. 24:31 is a small preview of a large scenario which will comprise one of the most exciting and horrifying events ever to be chronicled in the Holy Bible.

Jesus alludes to this in Matt.24:31 but the meat of the story happens in Ezek. 37, Joel 2, Rev.9, and Rev.7. The story of the elect, the trumpet, the four angels and the four winds is patched together in these four areas of scripture. And when you tie them all together they reveal a story that takes place on the world stage during the tribulation period that is almost beyond words. Only the God that created all things (our Jesus) could orchestrate a production this monumental.  So extremely exciting and extremely horrifying at the same time.

I know I really can't capture the story in it's full magnitude but I took a stab at it in April of 2012 when I wrote the below post to Doves. It's exciting....It would make a Hollywood blockbuster on the big screen........except it's coming to a stage nearby.....live and soon. But we Doves will be watching from the safety of His hidden place for us.  I believe you will enjoy the read.........

P.S....I also would like to sincerely thank John Tng for all he does to make this site so outstanding. A place to come to share our prayers, our needs, the news, our discernment of scripture and to learn from those that have spent countless hours in His Holy book. For a lot of us it's part of our daily routine.......an "uplifting" part of that routine.
