"RE: Frank & Bill: 05.24.13: seven churches"

Frank & Bill

You had said some interesting things about the seven churches in Asia.

For years, I like many others, considered, primarily the teaching of the seven periods of church history.

I also considered that they were seven, real, actual churches, simultaneous to John on Patmos.

I also considered that every church around, has things about it that can be lined up to each of the seven.

However, after reading what you wrote, the stronger thought that has gripped me, is in regard to us individually.

When I read about Ephesus, do I let the Lord use it to teach me about me, both good and bad?

After all, with each, he mentions, to him that overcometh, which is a personal statement.

Do I let him speak to me, in context of each of the seven?

When he keeps saying, “He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches”, do I really not understand yet?

When Jesus said something similar to his disciples, it seems they thought that they understood what he meant.

How often have I thought that I really understood something, and yet was so shallow or way off the mark?

Each time I read about those seven churches, is Jesus trying to only teach me history or prophecy?

Is he not encouraging me & rebuking me?

Is he not helping me to see where I’m at & what I’m like?

Is he not also helping me to see what I need to continue with & what I need to change?

Is he not also helping me to be ready?
