Day (2 May 2013)
"Re: Fay's 'Born in a Day'"

You are so right Fay!  Israel's Birthday is a great day to watch for special events, perhaps even the Rapture !

1948-2013 /  65 years old /  Happy Birthday Israel !

I would like to add three points to your post:

1) Israel actually became a nation at midnight May 15th, (at the termination of the British Mandate in Palestine) although the declaration was made at 4 PM, Jerusalem time, on May 14th.  (http://www.history.com/this-day-in-history/state-of-israel-proclaimed)

This may be significant relative to the next point:

2) The date of the Jewish Pentecost this year, called Shavuot, is sundown May 14 through sundown May 15th.   Remember that the traditional Jewish Counting of the Omer is different than the traditional Christian count.  The Christian calendar always begins the count with Easter Sunday and counting 50 days from Easter always causes the Christian Pentecost to fall on a Sunday, which this year will be May 19th.  The Jews however, traditionally begin the count on the second day of Passover, which can vary relative to the day of the week; this means that Shavuot can also fall on various days of the week, as it does this year.  Additionally, a second day is added in the Jewish Diaspora: sundown May 15th - sundown May 16th.

3) Finally, some watchers, certainly not all, associate both Tuesdays and Wednesdays with Jewish weddings.  Many Jews believe that Tuesdays are the best days for weddings because in Genesis, God declared the third day (Tuesday) to be "good," not just once as He declares the other days of the week, but twice; hence they believe in a double blessing on marriages performed on Tuesdays. (http://scheinerman.net/judaism/life-cycle/marriage.html)

Other Jews favor Wednesdays as the best wedding day based upon Talmudic writings that declare that Wednesday is the appointed wedding-day for virgins. (http://www.jewishencyclopedia.com/view.j...&artid=189)

Also, "some synagogues decorate the bimah with a canopy of flowers and plants so that it resembles a chuppah, as Shavuot is mystically referred to as the day the matchmaker (Moses) brought the bride (the nation of Israel) to the chuppah (Mount Sinai) to marry the bridegroom (God); the ketubbah (marriage contract) was the Torah.

All said, just a little "head's up for May 14-15 !

And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh. Luke 21:28
