But your perspective is from one who stands close, take a step back and look again.  Let me share with you what I see from a distance.

What I see is World War III being fought with the weapons of finance, trade, and regulations.  The crisis is not the result of man's strategic manipulation, but it is a created crisis originating from the wicked one.

It is designed to do what John the Baptist came to do;  John came to prepare the way of the Savior, and this is created to prepare the way of the antichrist.

It forces governments and peoples to submit to a ruling authority, which will ultimately be a tiered, structured, world controlling government, with the antichrist at its head.

When the financial system is all online, paper money will be destroyed, and with it will go your personal freedom.  Then it will only take a click of a mouse to ruin you, to keep you from paying your rent or mortgage, to get your paycheck, to put food on your table, and gas in your vehicle.

What you miss is that now you are watching governments submitting to this very thing, and when they are done subduing those governments, and have them under total control, then they will impose their will on the populations of the world.

There are many in the Christian world that think we can do something about this.  Such as purchasing a bunker, stocking it with food, medicine, and weapons, but this is just a fantasy.

God allows satan to rule this earth completely for forty two months, but for now God is allowing him to prepare the world for his short tenure.  It is God who revealed to us that this is coming, it is He who explains the end from the beginning.  Shall we ignore what God has revealed and think foolishly to ourselves we can slow it down or stop it?

I sincerely hope the rapture happens in 2012, and It appears to me it will.  But I don't think it will happen on the day a that a tribe of people who burned the innocent among them as a sacrifice to satan predicted it. (Myans 12/23/2012)

I also don't think it will happen on June 30th when a man who claims to be Jesus, and has had his followers tattoo 666 on their arms and foreheads thinks it might.

I don't think it will happen on the 27th, although I wish it would.  I read a website of a man who wrote a book claiming Jesus will come back on that day, but alas, his understanding of Revelation .... was not correct, so I have to question his conclusions.

If you think about it seriously, you can almost feel the darkness coming over this world.  Jesus said to work while it is day because the darkness comes.  I think the night is upon is, and if not for any other reason one would have to conclude that Jesus is about to return.
