"Defending Robert B"

Steve Mullin and Gail and others, I agree that Robert Belanger's defense of the "Gay Christian Church" is warranted.

Your point of view is in accord with that of Jack Kelly, pastor of GraceThruFaith website.  He has written extensively
on this over the years, on the salvation of the homosexual person who has accepted Christ's sacrifice for his sins.

The homosexual's plight, stuck in a sin-tempted body, still allows him to seek grace, forgiveness, help.

It is possible that some of the homosexuals involved in the church described in a previous post, which started this
discussion, are not "acting out" their homosexuality, but are just seeking the company of others who are constituted
with the same problem as they are.

The situation with a non-active homosexual must be very trying in all of his human relations, at work and in his
family.  A homosexual man who does not marry, but is good looking, confident, and capable at work--can you imagine
all the people who will try to get him to form a heterosexual relationship?  And if, in the end, he does not form one,
how it will wear him down to have "failed" so many expectations on the part of co-workers, single women, and bosses?
Does he not need a social circle which understands, and which can support him emotionally?

Jack Kelly speaks of "abiding sin", where a person resolves to overcome the sin, but it keeps coming back no matter
how hard he tries, and no matter how much he prays.  I think Jack is really helpful here.  Jack is a true gospel teacher,
but he realizes that we are so fallen that sometimes we let our sin nature take control.  He must have seen this situation
many times, as a pastor in the non-cyber world, not just with homosexuals, but with others drawn to sinful behavior by their
sin natures.

Bottom line for me is this:  I cannot understand why God does not always remove people from their sins.  Why he allows
the sin-nature to win even though the person tries.  Just as I cannot understand why God does not always heal sickness.
He has promised to save all who turn to Him, admit they are sinners, and that they need His help.  His help may not fully
come until we get "new bodies".  That is the way it is, not the way we necessarily want it to be.

As I wrote some years ago I grew up with several homosexuals who were talented in the arts (music, dance, drama),
because I too was talented in the arts (music, dance).  I knew them very well, and a couple of them even wanted to
marry me, but it could not happen because they were just not heterosexuals.  They were incredibly talented, and sad
about the condition into which they were born.

Some will say they were not born that way, that some early influence pushed them that way.  Well, of course, that
could be so true!  But the bottom line was that by the time I knew them (as early as kindergarten) they were already
that way, and that could not be helped.

I lost contact with my homosexual friends many years ago, but I read in newspapers that two of them died of AIDS.
They gave up and drifted into active homosexuality.  Would it have helped them if they had a "Gay Christian Church"?
Maybe.  Maybe not.

We do pray, Lord Jesus, that You will soon come and deliver us from this dire situation in which lives are bligihted by
sins of every kind.

I didn't respond on this earlier, because I have been attacked by people for my views, as Gail mentioned could happen.
I too am tired of standing up for a cause which has few adherents, the plight of the Christian homosexual.
"Christian homosexual" is not a oxymoron, or whatever. It's a reality.
