Rowina (3 May 2012)
"Nicole and Rene--whom
do you want to see in Heaven?"
Jesus, of course, and my husband. I want to
see the house my husband has been building with Jesus' help.
Home at last, thank God, thank God, home at last.
I don't have a long list of others I want to see because I don't
actually know who will be there. High on my list would
be the two babies I miscarried. Mary Adele, my
firstborn. The other one I didn't name because I didn't
even know
whether it was a boy or a girl. I suppose these children
are adults in Heaven. I really don't know. There is
so much
I don't know about Heaven that I'll just have to be surprised.
I want to see my aunts and uncles, especially Helen, my
alternate mother. And my husband's parents whom I never
met, Ed and Hedy.
Helen Law, my friend from college, and her father Curtis, who
made Father Cookies.
Among the patriarchs of the Old Testament I will be most happy
to see Isaiah and Job, both of whom declared that
they would be raised bodily at the Last Day. "Awake and
sing" Isaiah said of that Day. These two must be bright
shining like the sun.
A couple of cats and a couple of dogs and even a couple of
rabbits.
But most of it will be a big surprise. A letting go of
care and strife. A time to relax, at last.
Welcome home!
