"re Nicole- Alcohol"

Hi Nicole,
re..
'Alcohol is a fermented drink and is forbidden, it is a poison. When Jesus turned water into wine, it was a fruit drink that was not fermented as He fulfilled this miracle during the Feast of Unleavened Bread and yeast and fermentation was forbidden. A wine press is to turn grapes into juice and be used right away, not stored until it is fermented.'
I have spent a lot of time researching this and you are right. And the simple answer is today's alcohol and yesterdays strong drink produce an Altered State of Consciousness.
Something I believe no Christian should desire.
For even in grief it is tears which are / contain natural sedative. Our joy is the filling of the Holy Spirit..a new creature (bottle) with new wine (Holy Spirit). The opposite is a poor imitation at best and /or counterfeit experience.

Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.

Timothy was under a Nazarite vow so that is why Pauls said to take a little wine.i.e grape juice. Grape juice is the only drink you can have with meals without affecting food absorption. When at the last supper they drank wine it certainly was alcoholic. because yeast is leaven. At the first passover they had to leave in a hurry and eat standing so can you imagine then how ready they would have been if that had drunk from alcoholic wine.
'Whoredom and wine and new wine take away the heart.' Hsa 4:11

I heard Christians quoting the TV as too the latest finding of how a little alcohol is good for the heart. As the enemy is always planting a seed. The following is a quote ..

Alcohol Gets More Dangerous as You Get Older

July 10) -- A new UCLA study has supported scientists' concerns that alcohol abuse by the elderly has become a major national health problem.
Many older drinkers are unaware they even have a problem until it's too late -- after they lose their balance and break a hip or pick a fight with a friend or cause a fatal car crash. What they don't understand is that the same amount they drank with no ill effects at age 50 can have double the impact at age 70, drastically altering their state of mind and behavior.
'I noticed one day that the two martinis I used to enjoy some years ago were now giving me something much beyond a pleasant buzz. I mentioned the fact to my doctor, who explained that the levels of the enzyme that breaks down alcohol in the body fall as you age. As a result, higher concentrations of alcohol reach your brain.

And he (Noah) drank of the wine, and was drunken; and he was uncovered within his tent' Gen 9

Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them,
When either man or woman shall separate themselves to vow a vow of a Nazarite, to separate themselves unto the LORD:
He shall separate himself from wine and strong drink, and shall drink no vinegar of wine, or vinegar of strong drink, neither shall he drink any liquor of grapes, nor eat moist grapes, or dried.
All the days of his separation shall he eat nothing that is made of the vine tree,
from the kernels even to the husk.
All the days of the vow of his separation there shall no razor come upon his head:
until the days be fulfilled, in the which he separateth himself unto the LORD,
he shall be holy, and shall let the locks of the hair of his head grow.
All the days that he separateth himself unto the LORD he shall come at no dead body.
He shall not make himself unclean for his father, or for his mother, for his brother,
or for his sister, when they die: because the consecration of his God is upon his head.
All the days of his separation he is holy unto the LORD
The Nazarite Vow of Jesus
Mark 14 :25
Verily I say unto you, I will drink no more of the fruit of the vine, (A vow to abstain from drinking grape juice ) until that day that I drink it new in the kingdom of God.
Hebrews12:2
Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
( he bore our shame = nakedness and long hair )
Cor.11:15
Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him?
 Famous Nazarites from conception.
Samson
But he said unto me, Behold, thou shalt conceive, and bear a son; and now drink no wine nor strong drink, neither eat any unclean thing: for the child shall be a Nazarite to God from the womb to the day of his death. Jdg 13:7

John The Baptist
'For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother's womb'. Luke 1:15
For John the Baptist came neither eating bread nor drinking wine; and ye say, He hath a devil' Luke 7:33
'The Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, Behold a man gluttonous, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners. But wisdom is justified of her children' Matt 11:19....
God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged' Rom 3:4
'Others mocking said, These men are full of new wine' Act 2:13
I am sorry I have somewhere a link for Middle east wine making and the keeping of it. Very different to today. I believe with us being of a priesthood we while in service to the Lord can do no better than to set a good example to our weaker brethren by foregoing any alcoholic beverage. I have known many outstanding Christians who on conversion gave up /lost the desire for alcohol, smoking and swearing. There is a lot of backsliding this I believe is exasperated by the leavened new Bibles.
God Bless you..soon we will all be out of here. God Bless Patsy
