Hi:

I can help. It isn’t hard. Let's just go by the Bible. I’ll make you a chart for this year, 2012.

Lev 23:4 “ These are the feasts of the LORD, even holy convocations, which ye shall proclaim in their seasons.
Lev 23:5  In the fourteenth day of the first month (Nisan) at even (6 PM on Nisan 13) is the LORD'S passover.
Lev 23:6  And on the fifteenth day of the same month is the feast of unleavened bread”.

Lev 23:10 “ Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye be come into the land which I give unto you, and shall reap the harvest thereof, then ye shall bring a sheaf of the firstfruits of your harvest unto the priest:
Lev 23:11  And he shall wave the sheaf before the LORD, to be accepted for you: on the morrow after the sabbath (i.e., on Sunday) the priest shall wave it.”

Lev 23:15  (KJV) says, “And ye shall count unto you from the morrow after the sabbath (i.e., on Sunday), from the day that ye brought the sheaf of the wave offering; seven sabbaths shall be complete:
Lev 23:16  Even unto the morrow after the seventh sabbath shall ye number fifty days (i.e., that’s Pentecost); and ye shall offer a new meat offering unto the LORD.”

Where does the word “Omer,” a measure, 1/10th of an ephah, come from?
The Jews translate the above “from the day when you bring the Omer of the waving”
“You shall count for yourselves -- from the day after the Shabbat, from the day when you bring the Omer of the waving -- seven Shabbats, they shall be complete. Until the day after the seventh sabbath you shall count, fifty days... -Leviticus 23:15-16”

For this year, start counting the 49-day Omer countdown to Pentecost (the 50th day) on Sunday, April 8, 2012 (Easter/Firstfruits).

THE DATES OF ASCENSION DAY AND PENTECOST

Hello John and all Doves!!

I have seen so many different dates presented as being the true dates of the Ascension Day and Pentecost. I have to admit that I am getting confused, and I am wondering if this all plays into NO MAN KNOWING THE DAY OR HOUR???

I have looked at many different calendars, and most of them differ on these dates. Most recently I look at an orthodox Jewish calendar which says that Pentecost is June 3rd. This is totally different than May 26-27, and there was just a recent post about Pentecost happening at the end of July!!

Could someone help me here, I feel lost as to which date to look at, and also which date to celebrate? Do we have a consensus here on Five Doves, or are we to look at each one as a possibility?

Is anyone else as confused as I am?? Would really appreciate some input as to which of these dates are the closest to what the Bible tells us. I just know that someone out there has the correct information.

Thanks for any help that will bring this all into a clearer perspective!!
Whatever dates they may be, at least we know we are out of here in the very near future!!

Agape!!
