Daniel 9;24 "Seventy ‘sevens’
[c] are decreed for your people and your holy city to finish[d] transgression, to put an end to sin, to atone for wickedness, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy and to anoint the Most Holy Place.
"Decreed for your people" that would be Israel.
"...and your Holy City..." that would be Jerusalem.
After this verse, the 70 sevens are outlined, including the 70th week in which the covenant is made.
How is it possible, then, that anything Obama does is considered part of the 70th week since that week is SPECIFICALLY Israeli oriented?
From v26 "The people of the ruler who will come will destroy the city and the sanctuary." followed by, " v27 He will confirm a covenant with many for one ‘seven.’
[h] In the middle of the ‘seven’
[i] he will put an end to sacrifice and offering." The "he" here refers to the "ruler who will come." since Obama is "the ruler" that would make the United States the people who destroyed the city and the sanctuary. The US didn't do that.
The 70 weeks are about Israel and Jerusalem, no one else.
A speech by a communist would be president (at the time) cannot be the confirming of a covenant. IMHO

Dear Ed C & Fellow Watchers:
Very well written, Ed. Your post is like a breath of fresh air.
I have friends on both sides of the aisle (conservative & liberal) and I can't begin to tell you how hurtful this "Obama is the AntiChrist" campaign has been to my witnessing. In some circles this has become a laughingstock. I could really add fuel to the fire if I were to provide just a modicum of the so called proofs. Not even the Gospel message is laughed at as much as this "Obama is the AntiChrist" campaign, which is not even germane to salvation. I truly believe we lost more than we have gained.
The much better approach, and one I think compatible with the Gospel message, is that we should be praying for this leader, encouraging others to do the same rather than hurling unproven accusations at him.
Thanks,
Pineman
Ed:
You have to understand that the people of the ruler is speaking about the Romans and their destruction of Jerusalem in 70 AD. The 'he' does not refer to the ruler who will come. (The roman ruler who destroyed Jerusalem or end time ruler) It's the one who is confirming the covenant and in my understanding means the resumption of the covenant of the 70 weeks decree. You said it's about Israel and Jerusalem and no one else, but you have to understand in the end we are all included into his plan. One new man- Ephesians 2.

I never said it was, I believe it was an abomination, so much so we have seen continuous desolation (just read about continuous wars and catastrophic events from 2009)

When a person who is watching for Bible prophecy being fulfilled talks about Bible prophecy to ones that are not watching as closely you have to use your God-given discernement and not start with, "I think Obama is the antichrist."
When you speak of praying for this leader I don't recall Jesus telling anyone to pray for Judas Iscariot...really. If this is the way in which prophecy is being fulfilled we shouldn't be praying for said person. But again, that is up to your discernment.
