Thank you, Kimberly, for your kind words. You are right in that the Word does not specifically say the two witnesses will descend from Heaven. But it is implied. To see this, we must identify the symbols used for the two witnesses in scripture. First, though, I want to agree with you that the witnesses are Moses and Elijah, simply for the fact that they were present at the Transfiguration, one on each side of Jesus. To be present they would have descended from Heaven.
Rev 11:3 KJV - And I will give [power] unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred [and] threescore days, clothed in sackcloth.
Rev 11:4 KJV - These are the two olive trees, and the two candlesticks standing before the God of the earth.
These two witnesses are also identified as olive branches in the book of Zechariah.
Zec 4:11 KJV - Then answered I, and said unto him, What [are] these two olive trees upon the right [side] of the candlestick and upon the left [side] thereof?
Zec 4:12 KJV - And I answered again, and said unto him, What [be these] two olive branches which through the two golden pipes empty the golden [oil] out of themselves?
Zec 4:13 KJV - And he answered me and said, Knowest thou not what these [be]? And I said, No, my lord.
Zec 4:14 KJV - Then said he, These [are] the two anointed ones, that stand by the Lord of the whole earth.
Since I believe as you do, that the two witnesses were at the transfiguration, and they showed up out of nowhere (in other words, just appeared out of thin air) then when Jesus was left standing there after the incident took place, I think it is safe to assume that they went back to wherever they were before their appearance, i.e. Heaven. The angel that showed the vision in Zechariah of the Candlestick with the bowl (representing Jesus, I believe) (Zech. 4) said the olive trees stood one on each side of the Candlestick. I believe this vision was taking place in Heaven before the altar of God, which would have placed the two witnesses in Heaven before the altar of God. Remember, at the Transfiguration they stood on either side of Christ, in the same way that they stood on either side of the Candlestick, which is why I believe the Candlestick to represent Christ.
You said, "
God's attention has been on the Church for nearly 2,000 years. When the tribulation begins, God's attention will turn back to Israel. His promise to send Elijah, is to the people of Israel, so I believe their ministry will be in Israel, although Jews around the world will benefit from their witness. The witnesses will perform miracles and the whole world will know about them, but because so many people will be under "strong delusion", these won't know that the two witnesses are from God and that's why they celebrate when the anti-christ kills them." I agree that this is possible.
Although I believe God can use the two witnesses to awaken the 144,000 jewish evangelists before they are sealed, it doesn't necessarily have to happen that way. I was speculating on some things, hence my saying, "Nothing is set in stone".
Blessings,
