This is my understanding of these scriptures.

This was spoken

before he was crucified.

   

For where so ever the carcass [any body] is,

there will the eagles [demons] be gathered together.

 

Matthew 24:22-31 “Except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.

Jesus came before the Jews expected him so they didn’t believe he was the Messiah and thus crucified him; otherwise they would not have done so. It was important for him to die in our place. The plan was put in place at the beginning of time.

[23] Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not. [24] For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall show great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.

Simon Magus was a sorceror and desired to lay hands on people to receive the Holy Spirit.  He normally had to conjure up spirits…maybe by stiring the caldron or reading tea leaves, etc.  They say that he could even fly around and that was where he met his demise when, I think, it was Peter that disengaged his flight and he fell to his death in Jesus name.

[25] Behold, I have told you before. [26] Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers: believe it not. [27] For as the lightning comes out of the east, and shines even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

He comes by praying for the indwelling of the Holy Spirit after we repent and believe.

    For where so ever the carcass [any body] is, there will the eagles [demons] be gathered together.

    [29] Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:

When Jesus was crucified there was darkness from noon till three o’clock. This darkness was prophesied by Zephaniah and Amos. Zeph. 1:15 “That day is a day of wrath, a day of trouble and distress, a day of wasteness and desolation, a day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness,” 

Amos 8:9 “And it shall come to pass in that day, said the Lord God, that I will cause the sun to go down at noon, and I will darken the earth in the clear day:”

[30] And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. [31] And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

Matthew 27:52-53 “And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose, and came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.”

The graves opening was also prophesied by Ezekiel.

Ezekiel 37:12-14 “Therefore prophesy and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord God; Behold, O my people, I will open your graves, and cause you to come up out of your graves, and bring you into the land of Israel. And ye shall know that I am the Lord, when I have opened your graves, O my people, and brought you up out of your graves, [14] And shall put my spirit in you, and ye shall live, and I shall place you in your own land: then shall ye know that I the Lord have spoken it, and performed it, saith the Lord.

        And so that happened after Jesus was resurrected on the third day.  Then Peter saw him standing on the right hand of God and was thus crucified.

        So we watch for that last trumpet when we shall rise in the twinkling of an eye.  We are commanded to watch.
