Local and regional humane societies are not affiliated with the Humane Society of the United States.  They may share the name "humane society" but they are not the same.  Local organizations are separate entities and there are many of these that do wonderful work.
 
My post specifically singled out the national, multi-million dollar organization.
 
Did you follow through with the two dogs you rescued on the interstate to find out what the humane society ultimately did with them?  Always a good thing to do.  
 
I am the world's biggest animal lover, work in rescue and donate every single month to help the helpless dogs, cats and other precious animals.  Believe me, I have done my research!!!!!  The deeper you dig, the more corruption you expose.  I was simply giving folks a heads-up about the national Humane Society of the United States so that their money would not be wasted.  Much better to give to local rescues and shelters, most of which do commendable work and are struggling to make ends meet.
