"Re: Eze. 38
& 39 battle : Armageddon battle : Gog and Magog battle"
These are IMO three separate battles that all take
place at different times. Scripture gives us clues as to the
circumstances of their defeat.
First, the Eze. 38, 39/ Psalm 83 battle takes place sometime
during the tribulation. We see that they are stopped by The Lord
in a miraculous tumult of hail and fire, pestilence and blood,
and brimstone. It glorifies God and is a sign to the world.
Psalm 83
1 (A Song or Psalm of Asaph.) Keep not thou silence, O God: hold
not thy peace, and be not still, O God.
2 For, lo, thine enemies make a tumult: and they that hate thee
have lifted up the head.
3 They have taken crafty counsel against thy people, and
consulted against thy hidden ones.
4 They have said, Come, and let us cut them off from being a
nation; that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance.
5 For they have consulted together with one consent: they are
confederate against thee:
6 The tabernacles of Edom, and the Ishmaelites; of Moab, and the
Hagarenes;
7 Gebal, and Ammon, and Amalek; the Philistines with the
inhabitants of Tyre;
8 Assur also is joined with them: they have holpen the children
of Lot. Selah.
9 Do unto them as unto the Midianites; as to Sisera, as to
Jabin, at the brook of Kison:
10 Which perished at Endor: they became as dung for the earth.
11 Make their nobles like Oreb, and like Zeeb: yea, all their
princes as Zebah, and as Zalmunna:
12 Who said, Let us take to ourselves the houses of God in
possession.
13 O my God, make them like a wheel; as the stubble before the
wind.
14 As the fire burneth a wood, and as the flame setteth the
mountains on fire;
15 So persecute them with thy tempest, and make them afraid with
thy storm.
16 Fill their faces with shame; that they may seek thy name, O
LORD.
17 Let them be confounded and troubled for ever; yea, let them
be put to shame, and perish:
18 That men may know that thou, whose name alone is JEHOVAH, art
the most high over all the earth.
Eze. 38
1 And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
2 Son of man, set thy face against Gog, the land of Magog, the
chief prince of Meshech and Tubal, and prophesy against him,
3 And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against thee, O
Gog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal:
4 And I will turn thee back, and put hooks into thy jaws, and I
will bring thee forth, and all thine army, horses and horsemen,
all of them clothed with all sorts of armour, even a great
company with bucklers and shields, all of them handling swords:
5 Persia, Ethiopia, and Libya with them; all of them with shield
and helmet:
6 Gomer, and all his bands; the house of Togarmah of the north
quarters, and all his bands: and many people with thee.
7 Be thou prepared, and prepare for thyself, thou, and all thy
company that are assembled unto thee, and be thou a guard unto
them.
8 After many days thou shalt be visited: in the latter years
thou shalt come into the land that is brought back from the
sword, and isgathered out of many people, against the mountains
of Israel, which have been always waste: but it is brought forth
out of the nations, and they shall dwell safely all of them.
9 Thou shalt ascend and come like a storm, thou shalt be like a
cloud to cover the land, thou, and all thy bands, and many
people with thee.
10 Thus saith the Lord GOD; It shall also come to pass, that at
the same time shall things come into thy mind, and thou shalt
think an evil thought:
11 And thou shalt say, I will go up to the land of unwalled
villages; I will go to them that are at rest, that dwell safely,
all of them dwelling without walls, and having neither bars nor
gates,
12 To take a spoil, and to take a prey; to turn thine hand upon
the desolate places that are now inhabited, and upon the people
that aregathered out of the nations, which have gotten cattle
and goods, that dwell in the midst of the land.
13 Sheba, and Dedan, and the merchants of Tarshish, with all the
young lions thereof, shall say unto thee, Art thou come to take
a spoil? hast thou gathered thy company to take a prey? to carry
away silver and gold, to take away cattle and goods, to take a
great spoil?
14 Therefore, son of man, prophesy and say unto Gog, Thus saith
the Lord GOD; In that day when my people of Israel dwelleth
safely, shalt thou not know it?
15 And thou shalt come from thy place out of the north parts,
thou, and many people with thee, all of them riding upon horses,
a great company, and a mighty army:
16 And thou shalt come up against my people of Israel, as a
cloud to cover the land; it shall be in the latter days, and I
will bring thee against my land, that the heathen may know me,
when I shall be sanctified in thee, O Gog, before their eyes.
17 Thus saith the Lord GOD; Art thou he of whom I have spoken in
old time by my servants the prophets of Israel, which prophesied
in those days many years that I would bring thee against them?
18 And it shall come to pass at the same time when Gog shall
come against the land of Israel, saith the Lord GOD, that my
fury shall come up in my face.
19 For in my jealousy and in the fire of my wrath have I spoken,
Surely in that day there shall be a great shaking in the land of
Israel;
20 So that the fishes of the sea, and the fowls of the heaven,
and the beasts of the field, and all creeping things that creep
upon the earth, and all the men that are upon the face of the
earth, shall shake at my presence, and the mountains shall be
thrown down, and the steep places shall fall, and every wall
shall fall to the ground.
21 And I will call for a sword against him throughout all my
mountains, saith the Lord GOD: every man's sword shall be
against his brother.
22 And I will plead against him with pestilence and with blood;
and I will rain upon him, and upon his bands, and upon the many
people thatare with him, an overflowing rain, and great
hailstones, fire, and brimstone.
23 Thus will I magnify myself, and sanctify myself; and I will
be known in the eyes of many nations, and they shall know that I
am the LORD.
Notice that the nations that exist up till the millennium are
mentioned here. This is obviously during the tribulation, as
they are only referred to "nations" during the millennium.
Now the Battle of armageddon that takes place at the close of
the tribulation.
Rev.19: 11-2111 And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white
horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True,
and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.
12 His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many
crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he
himself.
13 And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his
name is called The Word of God.
14 And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white
horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.
15 And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he
should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of
iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath
of Almighty God.
16 And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written,
KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.
17 And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a
loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of
heaven, Come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of
the great God;
18 That ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of
captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses,
and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all men, both
free and bond, both small and great.
19 And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their
armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on
the horse, and against his army.
20 And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that
wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that
had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his
image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning
with brimstone.
21 And the remnant were slain with the sword of him that sat
upon the horse, which sword proceeded out of his mouth: and all
the fowls were filled with their flesh.
By the context we see that the Lord and His army subdue the
adversaries.
Now look at the Gog and Magog final battle..
Rev.20 : 1-10
1 And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of
the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand.
2 And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the
Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,
3 And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set
a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more,
till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he
must be loosed a little season.
4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was
given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded
for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had
not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had
received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and
they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.
5 But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand
years were finished. This is the first resurrection.
6 Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first
resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they
shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him
a thousand years.
7 And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed
out of his prison,
8 And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four
quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to
battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea.
9 And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed
the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire
came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them.
10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of
fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are,
and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.
You see that fire alone devours these millennium upstarts. Gog
and Magog is mentioned in the first and last battles. This is
significant because it is evidently a sect of people that satan
re-enlists in the final battle to attempt to destroy the Holy
City, or retake it. Who in the world today fits that description
?
