I take the clause, "nobody knows the hour or day," to mean two distinct and separate things.

 

First, the first century Church had no idea how long this parenthesis called the Church Age would last.

 

Secondly, there seems to be a passage overlooked by many today.

    "In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, on that day all the fountains of the great deep were broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened."  Genesis 7:11

 

Since sophisticated computers had not been invented by the mid-first century, it is a pretty good bet that no one then could possibly have figured out that Iyyar 17, 5771 would be May 21, 2011.

 

Yet, Jesus gave us tantalizing clues to this date:

        "And as it was in the days of Noah, so it will be also in the days of the Son of Man:

        "They ate, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until

         the day that Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all.

        "Likewise as it was also in the days of Lot: They ate, they drank, they bought,

         they sold, they planted, they built;

        "but on the day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone

        from heaven and destroyed [them] all."  Luke 17:26-29

 

Here is a clue from the book of Psalms:

    "Upon the wicked He will rain coals; Fire and brimstone and a burning wind [Shall be] the portion of their cup."  Psalm 11:6

No one can decide between one day and an adjacent one, because Jesus said,

    "Watch therefore, for you do not know when the master of the house is coming--in the evening, at midnight, at the crowing of the rooster, or in the morning...."  Matthew 13:35

 

Since these times of the day refer to Jerusalem time [UTC+2], Christians around the world cannot know the day nor the hour [Matthew 13:32] of the Rapture of the Bride of Christ.

 

The Second Coming, however is a different story.  Those clues are in Daniel and Revelation.

 

We, as the Church, have entered into Daniel's 70th week:
    "For the time [has come] for judgment to begin at the house of God; and if [it begins] with us first, what will [be] the end of those who do not obey the gospel of God?"  1 Peter 4:17

 

Jesus said to the Church at Philadelphia,

        "Because you have kept My command to persevere, I also will keep you from the hour of trial which shall come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth."  Revelation 3:10

 

The following verse marries 1 Peter 4:17 to Revelation 3:10:   

    "The LORD tests the righteous, But the wicked and the one who loves violence His soul hates."                                                  Psalm 11:5 [May, 2011?]

You asked a question about what Jesus meant , when He said in 

MT 24: 36.

It is written that Jesus said ... nobody knows the Hour or the Day  except the Father in heaven...

Here is my opinion, dear friend in Yeshua.

 

Lot of people want to predict the time of His visitation. It looks like everybody  misses the point , here.

 

My opinion is that I  must go and seek in the  Jewish practices , precepts, feasts ,customs , etc....

In the Jewish way of celebrating the Feast of TRUMPETS ; the moon  is to be watched for.

 

The Feast of Trumpets  is the only GOD's  Holy Feast  starting with a  NEW  MOON.  All the others are to be calculated.

 

So....  to make sure that they do not miss  the Feast debute , They watch the moon if it's  FULL from Jerusalem.  And then by looking at it  , it is a little hard to tell  if this  is   I T   or ....

So to make sure the Jewish people don't make a mis-calculation  they also celebrate the second day of  Tishri .

So  the Feast of Trumpets is declared at the  first day of Tishri  and also on the second  so  to make sure.

 

Nobody  SEEMS  to know the exact hour or day  of the   R E A L   beginning of the first day of Tishri.

Could it be  on that special  day FEAST  ,     that the Messiah returns ?  or   for us  to be  Raptured ?  just a question.

 

Rev  11:  15   The  7  th   trumpet sounded....  etc...

Something will happen in heaven and it will be manifested on the   7 th  trumpet.  Could it  be  on    (   A   ) Feast of Trumpet ?

 

The Feast of Trumpets  is not mentioned in the   N.T..... Why  ?

My answer is that :  not Only this feast speaks about the  RETURN  of  Jesus  but  the  WHOLE  N.T.  speaks about His soon return to earth beginning at   A     feast of Trumpet.

To  KNOW  or  NOT to KNOW  is it important ?  A Christian 's  question might be = When He comes... will  I  be   ready ?

 

I surely hope that my opinion doesn't affect ( hurt ) nobody.  I  am sorry if it does.  I  am human like everybody else and I  dearly believe in Our Saviour.

 

Let's all watch for the signs that Our Father  will surely show us.  Let us keep our eyes fixed on HIM , who will deliver us.
