"the Gospel...1
Corinthians 15:1-4"
I am not trying to start a fight, and this could be a dissertation, but
to answer your question or questions? The only thing you are to do
during this dispensation of grace (the Church) is to believe the
Gospel. The Gospel is made clear in 1 Corinthians 15: 1-4 Paul
was made the apostle to the gentiles. During his ministry the "Risen
Lord" showed (revealed) to him several mysteries. What is a mystery? I
believe it is correct to say that a mystery is a secret that is in the
mind of God until it is revealed. Paul was shown the Gospel in the
light of "believing in the death, the burial, and the resurrection of
the Lord Jesus Christ"..that's it..that's the Gospel..the Good News.
The 10 Commandments are a schoolmaster, which you can't keep, they are
the pointer to the One who did. It doesn't mean you don't strive to
live them out, but Christ fulfilled them. One other mystery which many
people may disagree is the rapture. Paul was the first person in
scripture "I show you a mystery"..there where perhaps references,
shadows, images, whatever figurative language you want to use, but he
reveals the mystery of the body of Christ and the catching away. There
is an old saying "All scripture is for you, but not all scripture is to
you" Example, many times people use Matt. 24 and the end-times to
discuss the rapture. Jesus was a Jew in Jerusalem, some of the time
discussing with his disciples the coming time of "Jacob's Troubles",
and they wanted to know when the Kingdom would be given back to Israel,
and who do I need to fight so I can sit there with you. That's a very
broad example, but the point is that the disciples where often talking
about when will Israel's Kingdom be restored, the Church is not even in
existence. I'm sorry if I sound like a know it all, but I am just
persuaded. Lord willing I will do better the next time. God Bless,
Jimmy
