"Geneva vs KJB
Zechariah 9:9"
For Bob:
In the piece written about the Geneva vs King James,
specifically in Zechariah 9:9, it is stated that the Geneva
translators got it wrong. Actually, if you research the
origins of the word "save" you would notice it comes from Latin,
and is actually the root word for the King James word
"salvation" (as the Geneva translators did not even know the
word salvation). Saved comes from "salve". It was
believed by Noah Webster to be a greeting, SAVE, v.t. [L.
salvo. As salve is used in Latin for salutation or wishing
health, as hail is in English, I suspect this word to be from
the root of heal or hail, the first letter being changed.
Gr. See Salt.]
Many in the KJVO Movement, and others who see KJB as the best of
the best yet reference other T.T./T.R. translations will explain
to people that reading the KJB is not difficult, and the few
words that are not easily understood, can be looked up in a good
dictionary...so, I did just that, the 1828 Webster's for the
word "saved".
That's it, and hope this is somehow edifying.
